In 1987, Brenda and Mike Smith, from Liberty, NC, purchased a Harley-Davidson� franchise, inventory, and building from Bundy Musick. We opened Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson with the help of our three sons, and our dreams and expectations were set in motion.

At the time Brenda and Mike had full time jobs in NC, along with raising their three sons, Jason, David, and Chris. We would load up the station wagon on Friday and head for the hills, the "Tennessee Hills" that is. We cleaned, mowed, painted, whatever it took to establish our new business. We stayed the weekends at the home of Mike's brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Wanda Smith. SMITH BROTHERS was chosen as our dealership's name with the dream that our three sons would carry on our legacy of Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson. Joe would take care of operations at the company for three years. Jason came on board June of 1992, Chris and David joined their brother, Jason, in June of 1996, their Aunt Nancy, also joined the business at that same time, Brenda came shortly after in October of 1996, Mike joined his family in October of 1998.

After 12 years of blood, sweat, and tears we had grown out of our expectations and moved to Johnson City, TN, in May of 1999. The year 2000 brought new dreams and expectation for SMITH BROTHERS HARLEY-DAVIDSON. Mike moved on to new ground and Brenda, Jason, and David focused their energy into Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson. Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson is a legacy Brenda hopes to pass on to her three sons. We are fortunate to be able to work at what we love - HARLEY-DAVIDSON� motorcycles.
